2020 is in review! Now is a great time to recap the year with your audience. Take this time to remind them of your products and services while being personable and transparent. Reach out to your audience whether it be on your website, social media accounts, or an email newsletter. An end-of-the-year check-in has never been more important than after the year we just had.
Be Honest
2020 was one of the most trying years globally in recent history. Be honest with your audience. If you didn’t have a great year, that’s ok. If you do have some good news to share, don’t feel guilty that many people didn’t have a great year. Take the chance to spread some cheer and joy.
When you are recapping your year the best approach is to be personable. Yes, you are running a business, but take this as an opportunity to put some personality into your business. People will love relating directly to you, which could improve your business’ success in the new year. Now, more than ever, people are looking to put a face to the name behind their favorite businesses.
What’s Next?
After putting 2020 in review, it is time for the next steps. Go ahead and share with your audience how 2020 has been for you, and how you made it through COVID-19 professionally and personally. COVID-19 has been something the entire world can bond over, and it’s ok to give your experiences. Don’t forget to include your favorite business moments from the last year. If you saw people pull together or even had other businesses pull together in your industry, acknowledge that and be sure to give some thanks to those that helped you during 2020!
It’s ok to include a note about your plans for the new year and the direction your business is heading. Think of this as the time to just do a check-in with your customers and audience. Recap last year and give them something encouraging to look forward to next year!
