Are you ready for Video Ads on Pinterest?

Pinterest is my guilty pleasure for a variety of reasons including clever ways to improve my beauty routine, awesome inspiration posts, and most importantly thousands of recipes I’d love to try but tuck away in my Video Ads on Pinterestdigital board. Pinterest is practical because it’s visually appealing and allows us to process images rapidly. Our Pinterest experience is about to get richer and more interactive with video ads. Since the launch of Cinematic Pins on May 2015, Video ads have been a point of discussion around the company for almost a year now. It isn’t going to replace Cinematic Pins but will be a separate product available. So far the company is testing the video ad product internally. Digiday reports a small group of external users are being given the ability to test video ads on the platform. Based on the feedback from the testers, it may have a green light for the general public to utilize.

How Would Video Ad on Pinterest Work?

Sources are saying the videos autoplay when a user stops to scroll over them. At this point the video length is still being determined. So far we know videos translate very well on other platforms (i.e.- Facebook with over 100 million hours of video watched per day) as they are a great way for platforms and brands to capitalize on viewership. Pinterest has the potential viewership to attract advertisers prepared for paid media activations for a variety of brands. I’m excited to see this platform continue growing and launching a new lane for digital marketers to explore.
